  • We feel this is a fair and transparent method of charging and does not depend on the value of the items we appraise.
  • The prices shown here are our retail prices for direct contact clients and include VAT at 17.50%.

Outside attendance (Fees that apply if we are called to attend at your home, office, or place of work etc.)
Document preparation fee: £42.00

An hourly rate of £85 per hour

(minimum two hours - £170)

Travel expenses: 40p per mile (round trip from Torquay) plus £25 per hour for travel time above one hour. This fee may be reduced or waved altogether at our discretion, subject to the volume and nature of the work. Please ask for an estimate.

Overnight accommodation if necessary, charged at not more than £75 per night (£85 per night for London and home counties).

For outside attendance a deposit of £170 will be required in advance.

The time needed is based on the number and nature of the items to be valued and will be estimated in advance. If extra time is needed to cover additional or unusual items this will be charged for at the agreed rate and invoices must be paid in full before the documents are released.

For your guidance we estimate that an average item takes between ten and twelve minutes to photograph, examine and value so approximately four-and-a-half to six items can be done in an hour or thirty-six to forty-eight in an eight hour day (excluding breaks and subject to the degree of complexity)

  • Postal work turn around is generally 5 working days or less. Urgent items will always be dealt with as quickly as possible.
  • A copy of your valuation will be kept for a minimum of six years and will be available should re-valuation become necessary.
  • When it becomes time to re-value your items the descriptions will not have changed so we have a special low fee – typically based on half of the current fee.
  • Whilst on our premises your goods are insured through T.H. March & Co.
  • For postal clients, all jewellery will be returned by special delivery post.
