Family division
Regrettably, there may come a time when it is necessary to divide family
property on a fair and equitable basis and the advice of a

How it's done
As in a probate valuation a family division valuation uses "open market" as
the basis for values, not the retail value since it is what the property might
be expected to fetch if it were sold that is usually required. In certain
cases and by agreement between the parties some other basis can be used but this is
rare.
